Dr Shweta Mittal

I was born and brought up in Punjab, North India, and moved to the UK in 2005. I completed my psychiatry rotation in South Yorkshire, before securing CCT in 2017. I became aware of BIPA in 2018, which gave me a strong support network for the increased responsibilities I took on in 2019, when I became a Lead Consultant in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. I am the current treasurer of BIPA and am committed to expanding our network to connect and promote mental health issues in the UK, India and beyond. I am passionate about leadership and management, with a particular interest in mentoring. I have successfully aided several international medical graduates (IMGs) with getting their first UK jobs, by assisting with interviews, facilitating clinical attachment and projects with them.

I am also a personal academic tutor to Sheffield medical school students, and I mentor through the Royal College MTI scheme. In my leisure time, I enjoy playing badminton and pickleball, and I live in Doncaster with my husband and two beautiful daughters.
